Pure Religion.

Pure Religion.

“Pure and genuine religion means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.”

This is the second Bible verse that my pastor friend commissioned for her church office.

Notice what genuine religion is not:
buildings,
people,
songs,
sermons,
creeds,
etc.

In short, Jesus wants more than our profession of faith. He wants our hearts, working together with our hands and feet. He wants religion (a dirty word in today’s world) to be the all-encompassing thrust of our passion.

My prayer for this quote is that it challenges my friend to seek every opportunity to put the gospel into action and to encourage the youth in her church gathering to see this hurting world through the compassionate eyes of Christ.
